Construction and Features
The kit lets students identify and describe the components of a model illustrating how photosynthesis transforms light energy into chemical energy by converting carbon dioxide and water into sugars and oxygen, and guides them to synthesize observations from multiple investigations to predict the relationship between specific wavelengths of light and photosynthetic efficiency in algae, check the accuracy of their predictions against experimental results, and use collected data to show that carbon dioxide is a reactant in photosynthesis and a product in cellular respiration, with algae performing both processes.
