Portable, vertical or horizontal — which autoclave format fits your lab?
The three portable models — Portable, Stainless Steel, Wing Nut Type, Portable, Aluminium, Pressure Cooker and Portable, Stainless Steel, Pressure Cooker Type — are single-wall, lid-clamped units sized for a benchtop, each fitted with a pressure gauge, double safety valve, steam and vacuum release valves and a mild steel stand.
The vertical models step up to a double or triple wall for better heat retention: Vertical, Stainless Steel, Nut Locking uses a threaded nut to seal the lid, while Vertical, Double Walled, Radial Locking and Triple Wall, Vertical, High Pressure seal instead through radial locking arms turned by a central steering-wheel handle — faster to open and close on a larger chamber. These three models run at 5 to 20 psi, the standard steam-sterilization pressure band; at the top of that range, 15–20 psi, saturated steam sits at approximately 121–126°C, the industry-standard autoclave sterilization temperature. The Triple Wall unit adds a digital timer, digital temperature readout, pressure control switch, low-water cut-off and an alarm/buzzer for supervised, higher-throughput runs.
The Horizontal, Cylindrical, Double Wall model is the largest-format unit in the range — floor-mounted on a tubular steel frame with levelling screws, radial-locked, operating at 15–20 psi (approximately 121–126°C saturated steam), and carrying the same digital timer, digital temperature, low-water cut-off and buzzer controls as the Triple Wall vertical.
