Metal Magdeburg Hemispheres
Product Code : EL-PLE-13191
Eduscope India is a leading Metal Magdeburg Hemispheres
Quick Answer: Metal Magdeburg Hemispheres is a heavy-duty cast iron set that lets students feel firsthand how strongly atmospheric pressure holds an evacuated pair of hemispheres together.
The Metal Magdeburg Hemispheres from EduScope India bring one of the classic experiments in physics into the classroom in a form built for years of repeated use. They are part of our physics lab equipment India range, and are intended for instructors who want a demonstration set that stands up to handling by generations of students rather than a set that needs replacing after a term or two.
Demonstrating the Power of Atmospheric Pressure
In 1654, the German scientist Otto von Guericke joined two metal hemispheres together and pumped the air out from the space between them, showing that ordinary atmospheric pressure alone was strong enough to hold the two halves together with tremendous force — a point famously driven home when teams of horses harnessed to either side were unable to pull the sealed hemispheres apart. The same principle is at work in this physics demonstration kit India classrooms use today: once the two halves are joined and the air between them is evacuated, the surrounding atmosphere presses the hemispheres together, letting students see and feel directly how much force ordinary air pressure exerts.

EduScope India's physics equipment, including these Metal Magdeburg Hemispheres, is exported to Central Asian markets such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, supporting school and college lab equipping in the region.
This set is also among the physics lab equipment India EduScope India regularly supplies through bulk institutional and government lab-equipment orders, school chains and CSR-funded science-education programs.
Related Instruments
This cast iron set is the heavy-duty counterpart to our existing Magdeburg Hemispheres, which are made of plastic and rubber and suit lighter or more occasional use, while this metal version is built for labs that run the demonstration regularly. To actually carry out the experiment, the hemispheres must be used together with a Hand Air Pump, which connects at the valve to draw the air out from between the two halves before the demonstration begins.
