Every student desk is fitted with its own electrical power point (13 points across the layout), a water tap pair and sink (two taps per desk), and a two-way gas tap (nine gas taps across the desks), so practicals can run without shared or trailing connections. Safety and building services are built into the installation: an emergency shower with eyewash station, a separate septic tank with soak-away for wastewater, a mains water tank, a fire detection and sprinkler extinguishing system, a gas-leak detection system, and floor drainage to prevent flooding. The room is finished with double doors on the exits, an externally sited gas tank in a lockable cage, a movable trolley for carrying apparatus between benches, and350 x 350 x 600mmvarnished wood-top stools at every station.
