Construction and Specifications
It gives students a structured, hands-on way to position objects, lenses, and screens along a graduated track and read off precise object and image distances as they explore how each lens type forms an image - the kind of reliable laboratory equipment school India physics departments use for structured optics teaching. The optical bench itself is an aluminum track, 1m long, fitted with a plastic support and graduated in 1mm divisions, allowing accurate measurement of object and image distances as components are moved along its length. Positioning of components on the track is handled by a plastic lens holder (3 pcs) and a plastic slider (5 pcs), which allow lenses, objects, and the screen to be mounted, slid, and locked in place at any point along the graduated scale. A Letter "F" object (1 pc) is included as the standard test object for image formation studies, while an LED object, 4.5V (batteries included) provides a self-illuminated alternative for observing image characteristics under active lighting. The lens set covers both converging and diverging optics with four Dia. 50mm lenses: a +100mm double convex lens, a +200mm double convex lens, a -100mm double concave lens, and a -200mm double concave lens, allowing direct comparison of focal length and image behavior across different convex and concave powers. A viewing screen, 15 x 15cm (1 pc, double sided) is provided to capture and observe the images formed by each lens as it is moved along the track. The set is completed by a plastic grating holder (1 pc) and a pinhole with 3mm & 5mm diameter (1 pc each), along with an instructional guide and list of activities to support classroom use.
