Construction and Specifications
The apparatus is supplied as a complete experimental set. It includes an Air bed that generates the frictionless air cushion on which a Rotating disc with cross bar spins freely, together with a Multiple pulley and a Release mechanism for controlled starts and accurate torque application. Driving force is applied using 2 S-shaped hooks (1.00g), 1 S-shaped hook (2.00g), and a Set of weights (2x 12.5g, 2x 25g, 2x 50g), permitting a wide range of adjustable torques for comparative trials. Air supply comes from an Airflow generator (Compressor) for connection to mains, routed through Silicon tubing with a by-pass valve for fine control of airflow, along with an additional Pulley. The set is completed with sturdy mounting hardware, including a Stand rod with 3 securing screws and 2 levelling screws, a Stand rod with 2 securing screws, a Stand rod (approx. 250mm), a Levelling disc for precise horizontal alignment, and a Roll of cotton thread.
