It is built around an insulating printed circuit board carrying a metallic conduction path broken into six breaks, with a binding post at each end of the path for connecting to the generator; the insulating board keeps the conduction path electrically isolated from its surroundings, so the only route for charge to travel is along the printed path and across its six breaks. When the binding posts are connected to an operating electrostatic generator, charge flows between the generator's poles along the conduction path, and simultaneous sparks occur in each of the six breaks at once. Rather than a single spark jumping a single gap, this gives an easy-to-see, dramatic demonstration of continuous charge flow across a series of gaps. The accessory is compact and light, measuring 195mm x 100mm x 21mm (approximately 7.5" x 4" x 0.83") and weighing 62.5g (0.14 lb), making it easy to set up and position alongside a generator on a demonstration bench.
