Travelling Microscope

Quick Answer: The Travelling Microscope is a precision measuring instrument used in research institutes, colleges, schools and industrial laboratories to accurately measure the diameters and positions of small objects, making it dependable physics lab equipment India schools and colleges rely on for precision-measurement practicals — an accurate, export-ready choice for institutions sourcing laboratory equipment school India wide and overseas.

Construction and Specifications

The instrument has a vertical scale with a main scale of 0-150 mm, a vernier scale of 0-1 mm and a least count of 0.01 mm, and a horizontal scale with a main scale of 0-180 mm, a vernier scale of 0-1 mm and a least count of 0.01 mm. Focusing is by rack-and-pinion, with two optics and a magnifying lens for reading the scales. The base is of iron and stainless steel, and a milky cenolite sheet on the horizontal stage provides a diffused background for placing objects. The travelling microscope allows a reference mark to be sighted with far greater precision than is possible with the unaided eye, and is commonly used with EduScope India's Glass Slab to determine the refractive index of glass by the apparent-depth method, or to measure the refractive index of liquids using the geometry of ray optics.
