Construction
The body and lid are built entirely in stainless steel, finished with a seamless construction that leaves the vessel free of joints where bacteria could collect between cycles. The lid closes with a screw-down, pressure-cooker-type closure — a single central ring turned down over the rim to lock, the same action as a household pressure cooker — rather than a ring of separate wing nuts, so the lid can be opened and resealed in one motion between runs.
Operating pressure and safety fittings
Like the other portable models in this range that share the same pressure fittings, this autoclave is rated to hold pressure between 5 and 20 psi. Converting on the standard saturated-steam pressure/temperature relationship, that range runs from about 109°C at 5 psi to roughly 126°C at 20 psi, with 121–126°C (15–20 psi) marking the typical operating band for standard steam sterilization cycles. Safety and control are handled by a pressure gauge, a safety valve, a double safety valve, a steam release valve, a vacuum release valve, a rubber gasket, an inner container, an inner tripod stand and a mild steel stand.
