Construction
The body and lid are made entirely of Aluminium, giving this model a lighter build and a lower price point than the stainless-steel autoclaves in the range. A seamless construction keeps the vessel free of joints where bacteria could collect between cycles. The lid seals against the body with a screw-down pressure-cooker closure — a single central locking action, the same style used on a household pressure cooker — rather than a ring of individual wing nuts, so the unit can be opened and resealed in one motion between runs. Where a harder, more corrosion-resistant finish is preferred, the unit is also available with an Epoxy powder coating on demand.
Operating pressure and safety fittings
Like the other models in this range fitted with the same pressure components, this unit is rated to hold pressure between 5 and 20 psi. On the standard saturated-steam pressure/temperature relationship, that range spans roughly 109°C at 5 psi up to about 126°C at 20 psi, with 121–126°C (15–20 psi) the typical operating band for standard steam sterilization. The unit is equipped with a pressure gauge, a safety valve, a double safety valve, a steam release valve, a vacuum release valve, a rubber gasket, an inner container, an inner tripod stand and a mild steel stand.
