Construction
The shell is stainless steel with an aluminium ring, and the lid combines stainless steel with aluminium. A seamless/seam-weld construction on the shell keeps the vessel free of joints where bacteria could collect between cycles. The lid seals against the shell with a wing-nut closure — a ring of hand-tightened wing nuts around the rim, rather than a single central locking ring — which allows the lid to be removed and resealed quickly for repeated small-batch use.
Operating pressure and safety fittings
Like the other models in this range fitted with the same pressure components, this unit is rated to hold pressure between 5 and 20 psi. On the standard saturated-steam pressure/temperature relationship, that range spans roughly 109°C at 5 psi up to about 126°C at 20 psi, with 121–126°C (15–20 psi) the typical operating band for standard steam sterilization. The unit is equipped with a pressure gauge, a safety valve, a double safety valve, a steam release valve, a vacuum release valve, a rubber gasket, an inner container, an inner tripod stand and a mild steel stand.
